Ian Butcher

Ian Started singing as a boy chorister at New College, Oxford. He went on to sing in various choirs, touring Europe with The Acapellaian Choir, Kidlington. He studies Drama at Birmingham University where he continues his music including studying American Musical and being Musical Director for Sweet Charity. After working in TV as a film editor he moved to writing film music, culminating in a nomination for an Ivor Novello award for his work on David Attenborough’s The Life Of Birds. After doing his PGCE in music he taught  in a Secondary School in Bristol for 10 years. Ian still writes music and has been working writing arrangements and original pieces for choirs.

 Ian likes to work with backing tracks when teaching singers and encourages his pupils to help find the right songs for their voices.
